About Me…
Dr. Peoples is an Internal Medicine Resident at Highland General Hospital in Oakland, CA. She entered medical school with the hopes of helping herself, family and patients to live healthier lives however she found the focus of her training in traditional medicine was on treating disease after her patients had become ill. She was concerned that despite her many years in medical education she was not aiding patients in maintaining health, preventing disease or staving off surgeries or life long prescription drug use. Knowing the effects of nutrition, physical activity and stress management on health she began to explore ways to expose this information to the public.
During her training, she spent most of her time with patients adding and adjusting prescription medications for chronic disease. Little time or effort was given to identifying the cause of disease or providing patients with the appropriate knowledge or skill to manage their diseases. She developed this website as a tool to help educate patients regarding prevention. She understands how difficult it can be to get sound, evidence based information about health and knows that many doctors lack the knowledge and/or time to provide up-to-date recommendations for health maintenance.
Dr. Peoples philosophy to medicine is that the human body is highly resilient and has the ability to maintain health if
Dr. Peoples received her B.S. from Spelman College in Atlanta, GA, her medical degree from Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine and is completing her Internal Medicine Residency Highland Hospital, a UCSF affiliate, in Oakland California.
